Deluca to hold hearings on governor’s health-care reform package

HARRISBURG, March 9 – State Rep. Tony DeLuca, D-Allegheny, chairman of the House Insurance Committee, has scheduled two public hearings at the state Capitol in March on Gov. Ed Rendell’s proposed health-care reform program, Prescription for Pennsylvania.

The first public hearing on the health-care reform program (H.B. 700) will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 26. The second hearing will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 27. Both hearings will occur in Room 140, the majority caucus room of the main Capitol.

The featured speaker at the first hearing will be Rosemarie Greco, director of the Governor’s Office of Health Care Reform.

DeLuca said, “I hear from our constituents across Pennsylvania and they are increasingly becoming fed up with the high cost of health-care insurance. Many small-business owners cannot afford the rising cost of health-care premiums and have chosen to stop providing coverage for their workers. I applaud the governor for bringing this issue to the forefront and look forward to working with him in tackling this issue.”

DeLuca said additional hearings on H.B. 700 are planned across the state in April and May.

“I encourage all Pennsylvanians who are interested in health-care reform to attend the House Insurance Committee hearings because our members need to hear from citizens of all walks of life regarding the ideas contained in the governor’s plan. I urge people interested in the plan to testify at our hearings.”

Citizens who are interested in testifying can contact Rick Speese, executive director of the House Insurance Committee, at (717) 787-4437.

Idaho Becomes First State to Pass Anti-NAU/SPP Resolution!

Today the Idaho Senate passed, by a vote of 24 to 7, HJM005, a resolution “Stating findings of the Legislature and urging Congress to use all efforts, energies and diligence to withdraw the United States from any further participation in the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America or any other bilateral or multilateral activity that seeks to advance, authorize, fund or in any way promote the creation of any structure to create any form of North American Union.”

Since the Idaho House had already adopted HJM005 by voice vote on March 12, today’s Senate vote means that Idaho is the first state to pass an anti-NAU/SPP resolution in both houses.

At least 13 other states have already introduced resolutions against the North American Union/Security and Prosperity Partnership.

Does America have 300?

I just saw the movie 300 tonight and for those of you who saw it,do you think we have 300 that would fight to the death to remain free? In the movie the spartans were fighting as free men for their families, lands and country. I suppose most of us would say we are free and are fighting to stay free. We should take a look at ourselves in the mirror and ask are we really free? Do we own our land? No! Are we free to travel without restrictions and harassment? No! Are we chattel put up as collateral to banking institutions? Yes! Are we free to speak our mind? Not without threats of a lawsuit if we say something that offends others. Are we corporate citizens or soveriegn freemen? Look it up and find out. Are we to lazy to look it up? Yes! Guess what then you are probably already a slave. In Proverbs 22:7 it says: The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lenders slave(NASB). Do you think that is an accurate statement for today? Do you owe anyone or any institution money? Are we truly free to do what we really want to do with our lives? So do we have 300 who would fight to the death for freedom? Perhaps, but do we actually have 300 free men in america? I challange you to read the constitution and read what the founders intent was for our country. Remember what Benjamin Franklin said "it is a republic if we can keep it".
