All
freedom-lovers are invited to the Freedom Garden picnic to celebrate
what we all crave so dearly … to celebrate what drove our Founding
Fathers to strike out on their own … FREEDOM! With battle lines
drawn in the dirt of our backyards, patios, or whatever available place,
we will take the WWII Victory Garden to even greater heights.
Americans still have a strong connection to the land. It resonates with
the idea of freedom.
George
Washington, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin all
shared an extensive interest in farming. Frankly, we’d have loved to be
guests at the Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and Madison family
tables. You may know that Thomas Jefferson’s favorite food was macaroni
and pea salad. There was actually something that James Madison loved
to eat. Madison loved ice cream. Washington, the Father of Our Country
enjoyed nuts and cherries. Ben Franklin had a yen for pickles. It all
sounds good to us so we will be providing some of these favorites in
addition to the All-American favorite, the hot dog. Bring one of your
favorite picnic foods to share and come and enjoy an afternoon of games,
speakers with important messages, and join together in a homegrown
revolution.
