You Might Ask...

 

"Why should I attend the CP National Convention and

what goes on at a National Convention, anyway?"

A National Convention is not just some "big meeting" or  "great event" to come to "if you can make it."  There are several important reasons why you should make it a personal priority to be in Nashville next April to attend the 2012 Constitution Party National Convention: 

1) The National Convention only occurs once every four (4) years and, as a body, it constitutes the highest authority of the party--the rank and file members from all across the nation-- so decisions made at the convention are of critical importance.

CP meeting recap

The fall meeting was productive, but many were not able to make it due to the weather conditions in the area. A new south central regional chairman was named, it is Robert Nulton. Robert will be a great addition to the party.Also several members were named to committees for the spring national convention in Nashville. Serving on the credentials committee will be Gary Odom, on the rules committee will be Ed Roberson and on the platform committee are Jim Barr, Joe Murphy and Jody Fike.
Mickey Paoletta spoke on the banking system and Senator Mike Folmer ended the evening with a great speech. The spring meeting was set for February 11th. It was scheduled earlier in order to get a jump on petitioning for 2012. It will be held at the Park Inn in Mechanicsburg. Thank you for all who attended and please try to attend the meeting in February, It will be a convention and they are only held every two years.

Money and Banking from the CP platform

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 5 grants only to Congress the power "To coin Money [and] regulate the Value thereof", with no provision for such power to be delegated to any other group.

Congress began immediately to fulfill this obligation with the Mint Act of 1792, establishing a US Mint for producing Gold and Silver based coin, prescribing the value and content of each coin, and affixing the penalty of death to those who debase such currency.

Article 1, Section 10: "No State shall ... coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts".

Thus, the Constitution forbade the States from accepting or using anything other than a Gold and Silver based currency.
