I called the Allegheny county elections department to get the wording for the referendum in my school district. All districts will vary, so to be sure you can call the elections dept. at 412-350-4500. Mine is stated like this:
Do you favor the Riverview school dist. to impose a .7 earned income tax rate. Revenue from the increase will be used to reduce the school tax on qualified residential property at an estimated savings of $569.00. The current earned income tax rate is .5 .
Then you are to answer YES or NO. I strongly urge everyone to vote NO. Today they will raise the earned income tax then without voter approval they can continue to raise the property tax rate up to a certain percentage. We can not continue to give away our hard earned money to any district even if they are being "fair". They will not cut their costs but will continue to rob us of our earnings.
Please vote NO.
